Part L Building Regulations – Solar Requirements
Any building developers will know that meeting any building requirements is not an option, its a necessity. As such Plug In Solar wish to help developers make their job easier by offering a simple, elegant way of meeting Part L of building regulations (now aligned with the Code for Sustainable Homes).
Part L of the Building Regulations relates to the Conservation of Fuel and Power.
The latest version of Part L demands that all new build domestic buildings need to show a 25% improvement on CO2 emissions over the 2006 standard.
How can this be achieved in practice?
- Energy-efficiency built into the fabric of the building (e.g. insulation)
- Efficient heating and lighting systems
- Small-scale generation of renewable energy
Using solar to meet the demands of Part L
A solar PV installation is recognised in many planning applications as a way of conserving fuel and power, because it involves generating energy in an environmentally-friendly way, rather than consuming it from the fossil fuel grid supplies.
You can find out more about Part L building regulations on the Planning Portal here: http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/buildingregulations/approveddocuments/partl
