Plug-In Solar is a Grid-Tied solar power system, which generates FREE electricity to power appliances in your New Build.

This building integrated (BIPV) In-Roof Plug-In Solar kit has been specifically assembled to help developers meet Part L Building Regulations and SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) calculations for new builds/self builds/offices/conversions or extensions in the UK.

The installation of renewables, such as solar energy, in new build housing across Scotland is helping building developers meet demanding new building regulations, specifically Standard 6.1. Using a Plug-In Solar New Build Kit to meet these new Scottish regulations is a simple solution, that can also add value to new homes.

Plug-In Solar kits, such as this one, contain EVERYTHING you need to complete your own Solar PV installation WITHOUT the need for a dedicated installation team.*

PLEASE NOTE OUR PLUG-IN SOLAR KITS WILL NOT WORK OFF-GRID.

The GSE In-Roof Mounting Kit
The In-Roof integration kit is a simple, quick, lightweight, waterproof method of installing solar panels in-roof. It is much more inexpensive than doing on-roof installation of solar panels for new builds. The In-Roof Integration Kit has the following advantages:

  • Photovoltaic modules (Solar Panels) can be installed in all roof types.
  • It fits 95% of the PV Modules (Solar Panels) on the market
  • Solar Panels can be installed on 15° to 50° pitch
  • Compatible with virtually all photovoltaic panels on the market (please ask about specific solar panels)
  • Portrait or landscape solar panel installation
  • Meets the CEIAB 2012 standard, MCS012 Certification, and T4-Broof standards

Integration and watertightness come from installing the steel trough with a fixing system on high point. Integration allows Photovoltaic modules to be fitted to any roof cover (Roman, interlocking or flat tiles, slate or steel troughs) on new and renovated buildings. The kit can be installed in portrait or landscape format on both small installations (less than 3 kWp) and large ones (several hundred kWp). The GSE Integration system can be fitted to wooden or metal structures from 15° to 50° pitch.

Our kits include ALL the G98 documentation required to commission your installation with your local DNO, as well as step by step instructions on the process.

Are Plug-In Solar kits easy to install?
Installing a Plug-In Solar kit requires NO experience, and is a simple plug and play assembly. You don’t need to be a qualified electrician, just a ‘skilled person’ [1].  You can install your Plug-In Solar kit in the GARDEN, on the PATIOSHEDPERGOLAWORKSHOPGARAGESTABLE, BEACH HUT, SUMMER HOUSE, OFFICE or HOUSE roof. Anywhere with a mains grid connection. It’s up to you.

The Plug-In Solar Advantage
With standard Solar PV kits, electricity generation is dependent on the panel that is performing the worst.  These types of systems will will not perform well with panels that are oriented in multiple directions or if panel shading is an issue.

Our Plug-In Solar Kits use Micro-Inverters to take full advantage of the production capability of each individual solar panel, regardless of shade or orientation to the sun. This ensures each panel can produce the maximum power and is not affected by the performance of another panel in the array.

The Plug-In Solar System is flexible, and modular so you can design a kit to fit your current budget and energy needs, and expand it later as you wish. The system is completely modular, meaning if you want to add more panels, or a solar battery, this can be simply achieved.

Plug-In Solar Kits are also Energy Storage Ready, meaning a battery system can easily be added to our kits using the Enphase AC Battery Storage Module.

The Plug-In Solar Advantage

How much money could I save with a Plug-In Solar kit?
You could SAVE an estimated £428.00 per year* on your electricity bills with this 1.70kW (1700W) DIY Plug In Solar Power kit.  With a Plug In Solar Kit you also insulate yourself against future electricity price rises.

Electricity Generation and Carbon Dioxide Savings
With a 1.70kW (1700W) Plug-In Solar Kit, it is estimated that you will generate 1,447 kWh per year. The carbon dioxide savings are estimated to be around 652 kgCO2 per year.***

Important Information

All systems advertised are for the peak power of the Solar Panels. The Micro-Inverter that has been teamed with the panels is done so using the DC:AC ratio module matching method as advised by Enphase, for best performance in the UK. You can see more information on this here: Enphase Module Matching

In the UK solar panels rarely produce power at the rated output due to sun angle, time of year, as well as environmental, electrical, cabling, soiling and thermal losses (around 15% in total). As such our kits have been designed with a moderate DC:AC ratio so the system will produce energy earlier in the day, later into the evenings, and perform better on cloudy days. This means more energy is produced at these times, which is beneficial in the UK climate.

[1] All electrical work must comply with The IET Code of Practice for Grid Connected Solar Photovoltaic Systems, and the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations.
