Plug In Solar – VAT Information

From the 1st April 2022 there was a VAT reduction on installed Solar Panels down from 5% to 0% VAT.

 

The VAT drop is not something that affects us as a retailer, or you as a customer of ours, as we are Supply Only.

 

The VAT is on the cost of the installation of Solar panels, not the supply. The key word in the literature is ‘installed’.

 

Not all products or installations qualify for the reduced 0% or 5% rate and you cannot buy or install them yourself. You can see more information on the Government Website related to this.

Update: From 1st February 2024, the 0% VAT Rate will also apply to Retro-fitted Battery Systems, which were not covered under the original 0% VAT Rate.  Again this only applies to installed systems and you cannot buy or install them yourself.
