Solar PV is Included in Green Homes Grant

Solar PV Green Homes Grant

The Local Authority Delivery section of the scheme will be open for solar PV.

The government has recently published further guidance on the Green Homes Grant, indicating that as we move into Phase 1(B) of the scheme, Solar-PV is included for low-income homes.

The grant was designed to galvanize the UK economy towards a ‘Green Recovery’ from Covid and had previously omitted Solar PV. However, the scheme has progressed and the Government has opened up additional industries to be eligible for the grant.

Local Authorities are now able to claim funding from the Government towards improving energy efficiency in lower income households. This is however with the caveat that applications will need to prove the ‘strategic fit’ of the work undertaken.

The grant is designed to reduce overall emissions across the nation and has seen much exuberance from homeowners who are seeking to improve their homes. The latest inclusion of Solar PV for low income households could go some way to reducing fuel poverty for the poorest in our society, whilst helping the Government with their ‘Green Recovery’ target.

This is great news for the solar PV industry and the country as a whole, we hope that you can take advantage of this ‘new’ funding.
